Builder Profile

For more than 45 years, Lou Boxer Builder has been known for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to clients.

Founded by master carpenter Lou Boxer, Lou Boxer Builder built its reputation on custom residential projects that often spanned multiple years, structures, and disciplines. From complex site work to intricate architectural finishes, Lou led a skilled, in-house crew with hands-on precision and a deeply collaborative spirit.

That legacy continues today under the leadership of Jeff LePrevost and Sue Granger, both long-time members of the team who now serve as co-owners. Together, they’re carrying Lou’s vision forward—staying true to the personalized service, trusted partnerships, and exceptional quality that have defined the company from the very beginning.

Jeff LePrevost’s passion for building began in high school, where he took drafting and architecture classes and participated in the Lee High School house-building program. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Building Technology and Carpentry from SUNY Delhi.

After graduation, Jeff started his own construction business and worked with a number of respected Berkshire contractors. In his 30s, he began subcontracting for Lou Boxer Builder. Following an injury on a site, Jeff stepped in to assist Lou with the administrative side of the business—and ended up finding his long-term place in the company.

Over the next two decades, Jeff worked closely with Lou, gaining valuable experience and developing a deep understanding of the business. In 2022, he became a co-owner of Lou Boxer Builders.

Today, Jeff works hand-in-hand with Sue and the entire team to lead the company forward. With a crew of 10 carpenters—ranging from seasoned foremen to high school interns—he’s committed to fostering growth and mentorship within the trades. He believes in the importance of learning from one another, adapting to evolving technologies, and maintaining a supportive team environment that feels like family.

Jeff likes to collaborate—whether he’s working with clients, architects, or subcontractors—and enjoys every phase of the building process. From value engineering and design adjustments to coordinating complex, multi-structure residential projects, he brings a hands-on, solutions-driven approach to every job.

Much of the company’s work is done in-house, including framing, siding, custom cabinetry, trim, and interior finishes. With a trusted network of employees, subcontractors, and suppliers, Jeff places high value on loyalty, relationships, and providing outstanding service every step of the way.

A lifelong resident of the Southern Berkshires, Sue Granger has deep roots in the community. She and her husband built their home in North Egremont in 1987, where they chose to raise their family—and have remained ever since.

Sue’s career began early, working weekends and after school at Fairview Hospital as a switchboard operator at just 14 years old. Over time, she rose through the ranks to become the Patient Accounts Department Manager, overseeing more than 25 employees across the business office, admitting, and emergency room clerical staff.

She later served as the Business Manager for a large holistic medical practice, handling daily operations and strategic planning. Though offered the opportunity to relocate with the practice when it moved out of state, Sue’s heart was in the Berkshires, and she made the decision to stay.

That choice led her to launch her own bookkeeping business, where she worked with several local contractors—including Lou Boxer Builder. Within a few years, Lou invited her to join the company full-time, and she has never looked back.

Now a partner in the firm and serving as Vice President and Office Manager, Sue has been with Lou Boxer Builder for over 30 years. She manages all financial operations, HR, job costing, and client relations and supports scheduling, permitting, and vendor coordination. She’s excited to work alongside Jeff as they lead the business into its next chapter, crediting the team—employees and subcontractors alike—for their role in the company’s continued success.

Lou Boxer founded Lou Boxer Builder in 1978 with a commitment to quality craftsmanship and lasting relationships. Over the course of 45 years, he built a business known for excellence—collaborating with talented architects, dedicated subcontractors, and a skilled and loyal team, all while serving a remarkable clientele.

Now stepping back from day-to-day operations, Lou has passed the torch to long-time colleague Jeff LePrevost, who brings over two decades of experience and leadership to his role as President, as well as Vice President and Office Manager Sue Granger. Together, they provide invaluable expertise in guiding the company forward.

Though officially retired, Lou remains involved as a trusted consultant, offering insight and support as the next generation continues the tradition of building fine homes that are the hallmark of Lou Boxer Builders.
